Role Overview

Thales is seeking talented and experienced Software Test Engineers to join their Naval Engineering/Software department in Hengelo. You will be instrumental in the development of Combat & Information Management Systems for naval vessels, ensuring the flawless integration of advanced solutions for sensor, weapon control, and information processing. This work directly supports critical missions, ranging from counter-piracy to defense against long-range missiles.

You will work within a multidisciplinary, self-managing Agile/Scrum team, taking full ownership of the product lifecycle from requirements analysis and design to testing, validation, and product demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities

Test Engineering: Design, develop, and test complex Java software solutions for Naval Command & Control systems.
Quality Assurance: Fully responsible for requirements analysis, design, architecture, testing, and validation within the Agile/Scrum team.
Collaboration: Analyze detected errors and collaborate closely with development teams to resolve problems.
Automation & Methodology: Apply extensive experience in test engineering and automation to ensure high product quality.

Candidate Profile

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Core Skills: Talented Software Test Engineer with extensive experience and a passion for testing complex software.
Technical Expertise (Essential):
- Strong background in test engineering and automation using Java.
- Knowledge and experience with test methodologies such as Functional Testing, Exploratory Testing, Test Automation, and Unit Testing.
- Proficiency with essential tools and techniques: Linux, Jenkins, Nexus, Maven/Gradle, GIT, and CI/CD.
Certifications (Plus): ISTQB Security certification is a plus.
Mindset & Soft Skills:
- Possess a strong analytical mindset, creativity, and flexibility.
- Must be a team player who is results-oriented, demonstrates initiative, and communicates clearly.
- Ability to quickly master new domains and techniques.
Language: Good command of spoken and written English is essential.
