In the role of Chemical Lab Technician, you will perform the chemical testing of food products, ingredients, and other matrices with primary functions in solution and reagent preparation, sample homogenization, proximate analysis chemistry instrument use (balance, oven, furnace, and extractors), chemistry extractions and procedures, and glassware maintenance.
Your essential job duties and responsibilities:
- Preparing and maintaining chemical solutions and analytical standards.
- Conducting routine instrument verifications, including daily balance and monthly pipette checks, and performing high-volume testing methods (i.e., protein, TLC, fat, etc.) to ensure the timely delivery of results
- Maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment.
- Working independently on assigned procedures while upholding company policies and customer requirements, all while prioritizing safety for yourself and your colleagues

Job requirements
- Bachelor (HBO) degree in Life Science or related field
- At least 2 years of laboratory experience
- One or more years’ experience in a commercial food-testing laboratory preferred
- Working knowledge of aseptic sampling technique, automated lab equipment, and acceptable methods and procedures

- Training in general laboratory practices preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English (and preferably in Dutch)
- You have good skills in administration/reporting work and time management

Terms of employment

This is a secondment contract with our client. The contract has an initial duration of six months, with the possibility of extension, and after one year, a permanent contract with the company.
We offer a competitive compensation package (including a 10% shift allowance) that is commensurate with the seniority of the position.
Hours per week: 40 hours per week; 36 hours per week is negotiable.
Working hours: 8 -17:00 and 15:00 - 23:00.
Start date: As soon as possible
