Then we are looking for you!

  • You are a Master's student in the field of Business Administration/ Global Business related with sustainability;
  • You are available for a minimum of 5 months and 40 hours per week;
  • You can start in September 2024.

What is the project about?
Biosense Webster the Netherlands is running a sustainability pilot to collect used cardiac catheters in the hospital and to have them transported, cleaned and dismantled in order to reuse all different separated components. This project is a collaboration between J&J, Greencycl (greencycl.org), TU Delft and Renewi.

In collaboration with TU Delft we are experimentally investigating whether a technical and innovative method can be developed to save cardiac catheters from waste, disinfect them and harvest the high-value components as monostreams (urban mining). Goal is to investigate whether different strategies can be applied to the catheters in order to recirculate high-quality materials and prevent waste.

What intern assignment do we have for you?
This assignment will be a cross functional project in collaboration with both internal stakeholder (J&J marketing, legal, compliance) and external stakeholders (Greencycl, TU Delft, Renewi and hospitals). At the end of the assignment you have delivered a proposed commercial model(s) that fits the required needs, a CO2 reduction calculation and recommendations for implementation.

Biosense Webster is planning to move from the current pilot phase to a commercial phase in 2024. The pilots that are currently running are financially cost-ineffective. The purpose of the assignment is to investigate what commercial models can be developed to make these processes financially healthy. Knowing that:

  • The components from the cardiac catheters represent a small financial value;
  • It needs to be scalable to more hospitals;
  • It needs to meet healthcare compliance regulations.
