We are looking for a seasoned Project Leader to join our 60-person Optics Department in Delft to turn complex R&D concepts into world-class reality.
The Challenge
You will take ownership of high-stakes, multidisciplinary projects for elite partners like NASA, ESA, and Airbus. From massive telescopes to microscopic Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), you will bridge the gap between groundbreaking science and industrial application.
Responsibilities
- Lead & Inspire: Guide diverse teams of scientists and engineers, balancing high performance with team wellbeing.
- End-to-End Ownership: Shape proposals, define goals, and manage budgets/timelines for multiple parallel R&D tracks.
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as the primary link between TNO, industry suppliers, and global customers.
- Drive Innovation: Translate complex customer needs into actionable technical roadmaps in the semiconductor and optical sectors

- Expert: BSc+ in Physics, Engineering, or Materials Science with 10+ years in high-tech/semiconductors.
- Leader: A proven track record in managing complex, experimental R&D projects (PM certification is a plus).
- Communicator: Fluent in English, calm under pressure, and skilled at stakeholder management at all levels.
- Visionary: Commercially aware and strategically minded, with a deep affinity for optical technologies.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden
Primary employment conditions
- Monthly salary as per market standards
- 8 % holiday allowance calculated on 12 monthly salaries
Secondary employment conditions
- Pension Plus scheme
- Net €750,- to set up your home workplace
- 25 vacation days per year based on 40 hours
- Travel allowance

- Relocation assistance if you come from outside the Netherlands
