In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving the growth of Philips Innovation Engineering by contributing as a Systems Engineer with expertise in Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems.
As a Systems Engineer, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary project team composed of highly skilled technical experts from both Philips Innovation Engineering and our customers. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality (sub-)system designs that meet both user needs and business objectives.
You will tackle real-world challenges by applying advanced technologies, managing system complexity, and executing the various phases of the V-model in close collaboration with the Senior Systems Engineer. Throughout the development lifecycle, you will rigorously perform activities aligned with Design Control, ensuring design quality through the application of Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) methodologies. Your contributions will accelerate innovation in products and processes. Familiarity with Digital Engineering, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Issue Resolution: Lead internal investigations into technical complaints related to development and system integration, drive resolution, and implement preventive actions.
- System Architecture & Implementation: Execute system architecture design and oversee implementation within the R&D group, from concept to commercial launch, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Anomaly Analysis: Analyze system anomalies, reproduce issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions while coordinating with cross-functional teams and project management.
- Requirements Engineering: Contribute to the collection, analysis, and review of system-level and sub-system requirements. Support system partitioning and integration using systems engineering best practices.
- Risk & Test Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage system requirements, lead risk management activities, and facilitate system test planning, including tool and resource identification for verification.
- Process Improvement: Enhance workflows and methodologies by engaging with peers and cross-functional teams, applying engineering tools and techniques to improve efficiency.
- Data-Driven Decision Support: Provide training and consultation on leveraging data and insights to support informed decision-making across teams.
- Design Optimization: Recommend design improvements to enhance system reliability and resolve conflicting requirements, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
- Program-Level Support: Offer guidance and support across all phases of product development—from concept exploration and system definition to testing, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Performance Evaluation: Assess system performance and reliability through experimentation and data analysis, implementing improvements aligned with project goals and quality standards

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
• A BSc or MSc degree or equivalent in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent
• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in innovative product development, preferably including medical devices and-imaging.
• Familiar to work according to the V-model in defining requirements, test specifications, execution of the tests and reporting the test results (draws up design requirements and produces specifications for the product)
• Proven experience in at least one of the domains medical equipment, industrial automation or high precision mechatronics as a mechatronic systems engineer
• Have clear drive for Design for Quality ensuring also the aftercare of projects. GreenBelt certification is a pré
• Experience with Model-Based System Engineering as well as other Model Based Design tools is a pré.
