As an SME Molding Engineer, you occupy a pivotal role at the intersection of Innovation and Industrialization. You are responsible for bringing new plastic parts to life within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Working within a dedicated project team, you will specify and implement molding systems for world-class products such as shavers and toothbrushes.
Your mission is to ensure that molding processes are high-performing, sustainable, and meet rigorous production requirements. You will manage the entire lifecycle of a part—from initial design feasibility to supplier selection and final implementation on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Industrialization: Lead the transition of new plastic components from design to mass production.
- Technical Oversight: Execute DFM analyses, review mold construction plans, and manage molding trials and troubleshooting.
- Supplier Management: Specify and outsource molding processes and equipment; audit and review the performance of international mold-making suppliers.
- Financial Impact: Define and monitor the financial performance of molding processes, including mold price estimation and cycle time optimization.
- Innovation: Actively study and implement new technologies in molding, with a specific focus on sustainability and Lean manufacturing.
Functie-eisen
To be successful in this role, you must bring a deep technical foundation in polymer processing and a proven track record in industrialization.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in plastic part manufacturing, ideally within a mass-production environment for consumer electronics or medical devices.
Technical Mastery: * Expertise in DFM reports, mold construction, and injection molding trial execution.
- Hands-on ability to operate molding machines and perform process investigations.
- Solid understanding of resins and measurement protocols/technical drawings.
- Certification: Minimal Six Sigma or DMAIC trained (Green Belt), preferably certified.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Dutch is required for effective stakeholder management and local factory integration.
