You will be working in the Quantum Technology department of TNO in projects we perform directly for clients, like start-ups in the ecosystem around Delft or Europe, or in close collaboration with the TU Delft in the QuTech research center for quantum computing and quantum internet. Our mission is to use state-of-the-art scientific knowledge in developing technology into higher TRL (Technology Readiness Level) applications, designing and building systems that leverage on quantum properties. At the Quantum Technology department in TNO, we bridge the gap between fundamental research and application in test-beds, demonstrators and product development.
Functie-eisen
You will be working in characterization and development of superconducting devices. You will be designing the cryogenic and room-temperature measurement setups, as well as developing software for automatic testing of single- and multi-qubit superconducting devices. Depending on your exact skillset and interests, you will have an opportunity to participate in development of quantum parametric amplifiers, spin qubits, entanglement distribution systems or quantum sensors. You will collaborate with internal and external experts to improve reliability and performance of the measurement setups. Last but not least, you will participate in work for commercial clients, in national and European projects, helping to deliver excellent technical results.
Competenties
- MSc or PhD degree in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering, with an emphasis on quantum computing research is desired.
- 5+ years of experience in setting up and performing experiments with cryogenic solid state measurements, any quantum computing platform, including at least 1 year with superconducting qubits.
- Experience in using object-oriented programming tools to represent the experimental setups.

Terms of employment
We have an open position for 1 year with possibility of extension and/or a permanent contract at the company. This concerns a secondment contract. We will offer a competitive benefit package in line with your seniority and the seniority of the position.
