Senior Systems Engineer – Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

As a Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE), you’ll play a key role in driving the adoption, application, and evolution of MBSE practices across various Philips businesses. You will contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge healthcare solutions by embedding MBSE within R&D environments and throughout the product lifecycle.
You will be part of a highly skilled team of MBSE professionals within the Innovation Engineering function, collaborating across global Philips units. Our projects span the entire product lifecycle—from early concept development to manufacturing, market launch, operations, and phase-out.

Role Responsibilities:
- Lead MBSE activities across multidisciplinary R&D projects in a regulated (medical) environment.
- Apply and refine MBSE methodologies and tools to improve product development outcomes.
- Collaborate with system engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective use of MBSE principles.
- Create, customize, and manage system models using tools like Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML.
- Define and implement model structures, metamodels, and datamodels tailored to specific business needs.
- Support global MBSE deployment by developing and delivering training, coaching teams, and guiding adoption strategies.
- Foster a culture of systems thinking and structured engineering practices across the organization.
- Engage externally to share insights and learn from the broader high-tech and MBSE communities.
Competenties
What you bring with you:
- 7+ years of experience in an R&D role within a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
- Deep expertise in Systems Engineering, including Requirements Engineering, Risk Management, and system design.
- Advanced knowledge of MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, including scripting, customization, profile creation, custom diagram development, validation rules, and plugin development.
- Proficiency in SysML (at least at a model user level); scripting experience is a strong advantage.
- Experience working with structure, behavior, requirements, and parametric modeling.
- The ability to create and manage metamodels and datamodels.
- A Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Systems, Software, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate across varying levels of system complexity—both strategically and hands-on.
