Internship - Characterization of bioreactors and mixing vessels

Ever wondered how simulations can perfect the art of mixing bioreactors? Looking for an impactful Master thesis or internship in a high-tech environment? Why not join the Process Science Modelling and Data (PSMD) team and redefine bioreactor performance?

You must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Moreover, you should be willing to commit to a to 6-month assignment on a full-time basis (32-40 hours per week) in Leiden.

• Highly motivated to start this internship;
• Enrolled in a Chemical Engineering, BioScience or Mathematics master;
• Knowledge of CFD and an interest in this field is essential;
• You are reliable, eager to learn, possess good communication and time-management skills;
• Available from April 1st.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team called Process Science Modelling and Data (PSMD). This group focuses on improving the understanding and optimization of processes through sophisticated modelling and data analysis techniques by improving statistical methods, physics based modelling, and other computational tools. You will have a key role in assisting the scientists in JnJ for better understanding of bioreactors and mixing vessels by using CFD and other modeling approaches.

• You will play a key role in understanding the behaviour of bioreactors and mixing vessels;
• Development of the model will involve computational fluid dynamics (CFD);
• Programming in Python would be necessary for this project, knowlegde in programming is a plus.
