You are meticulous in your fact-checking and you have a strong sense of natural justice. You preferably also have:
- Degree in a STM or related academic discipline;
- Experience in Publishing Ethics roles or Editorial roles, preferably in academic publishing;
- Familiarity with publishing ethics, research integrity, and the peer-review process; experience with ethical case management is desirable;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and comfortable using case management systems
Publishing Ethics Analysts help maintain this commitment by assisting with the investigation and documentation of ethical allegations in all fields of research. This includes gathering and analysing information related to potential cases of research or publication misconduct, preparing detailed case files and communications, liaising with a range of stakeholders, and ensuring accurate record-keeping throughout the investigative process.
- Assessment of potential ethical misconduct by authors, reviewers, editors, guest editors and others using established workflows
- Reviewing and summarising findings of external experts; making recommendations for additional clarifications where required
- Use of Elsevier systems and other analytic tools/data sources to support ethics investigations
- Escalating complex cases to team lead, where required
