At Philips, what we do today affects someone's life tomorrow. We strive for the highest quality in healthcare products, transforming data into insights and technology into care. By joining our central Innovation Engineering function, you will be part of a global movement to make the world healthier and more sustainable through meaningful innovation.

Are you passionate about tackling architectural complexity and shaping the future of medical technology?

As a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE), you will apply established MBSE methods to high-impact projects across various Philips business units. Located primarily at the vibrant High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, you will join a specialized competence group of approximately 15 highly skilled MBSE professionals. Your work will span the entire product lifecycle—from early development and manufacturing to market deployment, operations, and eventual phase-out.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between abstract architecture and practical implementation, collaborating closely with senior systems engineers and architects to deliver top-tier system and subsystem models.

Model Authoring & Execution: Apply SysML to create, maintain, and evolve structure, behavior, requirements, and parametric models with rigorous traceability.

Quality & Customization: Maintain model integrity by enforcing conventions, validation rules, and reviews. Implement basic customizations (e.g., structured expressions, validation rules, profiles).

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Senior Systems Engineers and Architects to translate user and business requirements into clear, manageable system scopes.

Capability Deployment: Help scale MBSE capabilities globally across Philips by applying existing standards, updating templates/guidelines, and supporting onboarding or coaching sessions under senior guidance.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the MBSE MetaModel/DataModel definitions and suggest incremental method enhancements to drive engineering excellence.

Industry Networking: Engage with external high-tech companies and consortia to exchange best practices, building a strong network of like-minded professionals.

Functie-eisen

To thrive in this role, you should bring a blend of practical modeling expertise, a systems mindset, and strong communication skills.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Education: BSc or MSc degree in Systems, Software, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: 4–7 years of experience in an R&D environment.
  • Systems Engineering Foundation: Strong hands-on experience in requirements engineering, risk management, and design control.
  • MBSE Expertise: Practical, model-author level experience using industry-standard tools—specifically Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw.
  • Language & Location: Fluent in English. Must currently reside in the Netherlands.

Competenties

Experience working within a regulated environment (highly preferred: Medical Device / Healthcare industry).

Familiarity with scripting languages for model automation or customization.

Ability to apply and improve MetaModel/DataModel definitions under guidance.

An excellent communicator who can comfortably navigate different levels of architectural detail.

A proactive, hands-on mentality with a passion for knowledge sharing and mentoring peers.
