Junior Data Scientist

At the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC), we support customers across the globe. But behind the scenes, we are transforming into a data-first organization. We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist who doesn’t just "do data," but builds intelligent systems.

In this role, you won't just be analyzing the past; you will be building the future of customer interaction using LLMs, RAG architectures, and scalable data pipelines within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.

We are looking for a proactive "self-starter" who thrives in a technical, fast-paced environment.

Your technical and personal toolkit:

• LLM & NLP Expertise: Deep understanding of embeddings, vector search, topic modeling, and RAG architectures. Experience with prompt engineering and orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain or LlamaIndex).
• Data Engineering: Proficiency in Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Spark SQL. You know how to ingest data from APIs, streams, and files into well-modeled data layers.
• Software Craftsmanship: Strong Python skills with an emphasis on modularity, Pydantic for data validation, and professional Git workflows.
• Agile Mindset: Comfortable working in an Agile or SAFe environment, taking full ownership of your tasks from conception to deployment.
• Communication: Transparent, proactive, and able to translate "tech-speak" into business value.
• Critical Thinking: You don't just execute; you ask "Why?" to ensure we deliver the best possible solution for the Mercedes-Benz customer.
• Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken).

As part of the data science team, you will bridge the gap between advanced AI research and practical, scalable business solutions.

• Architecting Intelligence: You will design and build LLM-based solutions for information extraction, summarization, and conversational AI;
• Engineering Pipelines: You will develop scalable data pipelines in Azure Databricks using PySpark and Spark SQL, ensuring our data layers are optimized and robust;
• Coding Excellence: You write clean, modular Python code. You don’t just build "one-offs"; you build shared libraries and reusable components that make the whole team faster;
• AI-Assisted Development: You embrace the future by using Copilot and other AI assistants to accelerate your workflow while maintaining high standards for validation (Pydantic) and version control (Git/GitHub);
• Proactive Collaboration: You will act as a consultant to the business, explaining complex AI concepts to stakeholders and challenging requirements to ensure we solve the right problems.
