As our Senior Safety Specialist, you act as the strategic safety lead during the preparation and execution of multidisciplinary facility upgrade projects. You don't just follow rules; you leverage your expertise to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into the project’s DNA from day one.
In this role, you bridge the gap between technical complexity and safety excellence. You coordinate subcontractors, assign critical tasks, and maintain field supervision to ensure flawless execution. You are the subject matter expert who coaches colleagues to strengthen the overall safety culture within the EVM department. By identifying systemic issues and implementing sustainable EH&S solutions, you ensure that our advanced therapies are developed in the safest environment possible.
Key responsibilities:
- You collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand the execution plan, where you leverage your expertise to ensure that the EHS requirements are accounted for both during preparation as well as during the execution of the project.
- Act as the primary contact for project stakeholders (engineers, clients, contractors).
- Lead and coordinate workers and subcontractors to ensure safe, quality execution.
- Supervise daily construction activities, ensuring alignment with plans and schedules.
- Monitor work quality, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to technical and safety standards.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges to maintain workflow continuity.
- Coach and develop EVM team members to strengthen safety culture.
- Develop and deliver safety trainings to workers and contractors.
- Oversee, develop, and improve safety systems, standards, and procedures.
- Lead or support the implementation of safety standards within your expertise.
- Enforce safety regulations on site, conduct inspections, and ensure full compliance.
- Perform safety‑related risk assessments and support project safety assessments.
- Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 14001, regulatory, corporate).
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and drive corrective actions.
Functie-eisen
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- At least 4 years of experience in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience with international Management System Standards, such as ISO 14001.
- Excellent Dutch and English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- A secondary safety expert qualification (MVK) or comparable certification is highly preferred.
