Role description
As an Embedded Software Engineer at PACCAR, you explore, validate, and prototype new software technologies, concepts, and architectures for next-generation platforms. Operating in the earliest stages of product development, you transform ideas and requirements into tangible proofs of concept (PoCs), prototypes, and concrete technical recommendations. By rapidly testing feasibility and identifying risks, you help guide architecture decisions and reduce uncertainty.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Innovation: Explore emerging software technologies and propose innovative ideas.
- Prototyping & Development: Translate concepts into PoCs, demonstrator models, and production-ready embedded software.
- Validation: Conduct feasibility studies, technology benchmarks, and supplier assessments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects and engineering teams to validate concepts.
- Knowledge Transfer: Document findings and guide the transition from concept to final engineering.
Key Deliverables
- Functional PoCs, prototypes, demonstrator models, and high-quality embedded software.
- Technical feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and advisory reports.
- Assessment and benchmark reports on emerging technologies.
- Input and insights for the innovation roadmaps of architects and tech leads.
Functie-eisen
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 3+ years in embedded software development for complex systems (multicore/distributed systems, microprocessors, microcontrollers, OS, and networking protocols).
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with C, C++, and Python; strong foundation in software engineering, OOP, scripting, automation, tooling, and rapid PoC development.
- Communication: Strong spoken and written English skills.
