Are you ready to shape the future of Heavy Duty Diesel powertrain systems? As a System Function Design Engineer at Randstad Professional | DAF Trucks N.V., you will develop advanced control concepts and emission strategies for industry-leading vehicles.
In this role as System Function Design Engineer, you bridge system requirements and software execution. Working with multidisciplinary teams and global suppliers, you transform complex EU and NA emission standards into reliable, real-world engine control solutions.
Your key responsibilities:
- Design and specify advanced control strategies for engine, aftertreatment, and diagnostic systems
- Translate new emission, OBD, and product requirements into functional system specifications
- Integrate and test control algorithms using SIL, HIL, and Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) environments
- Collaborate as a technical integrator between internal engineering groups and external suppliers
- Support software developers and calibration engineers during implementation and initial testing

Job Profile
- Master’s degree (MSc) in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering specialized in mechatronics or control systems, and work experience with engine and aftertreatment controller development, especially on EU and NA emission and OBD regulations
- Experience in Six Sigma related processes, i.e. DMAIC, Design For Six Sigma, FMEA, Monte Carlo
- Good knowledge of requirement engineering (IREB certificate is a pre) and development process models like SPICE is a pre
- Testing experience on SIL, HIL environment and RCP on an engine is a pre
