Within the engine development department, the System Definition group is responsible for definition of new engine and aftertreatment concepts, as well as emissions and installation documentation, project scoping and functional requirements to meet (new) customer demands and emission regulations.
Engine Performance & vehicle integration elements have major impact on PACCAR’s products and is one of the major inputs when defining new engine concepts. A thorough understanding of the relevant engine performance & integration elements and of the technical requirements it brings to the engine concepts is of very high importance.

Job description
- Develop in depth understanding of key Engine performance elements and customer expectations relevant to PACCAR’s products – e.g. Fuel Economy, Emissions, diagnostics and Engine Performance (Startability, Heat Rejection, Torque and speed, NVH)
- Investigate specific engine performance topics for various engine technologies
- Data Analysis, Scope Requests Investigations, Simulations, etc.
- Technical impact assessment of changing engine/vehicle HW, Regulatory changes, customer expectations
- Support Property Owners with investigations: Scope Requests, Failures Investigations, etc.
- Translate Customer requirement from Vehicle divisions into technical requirements
- Prepare Product Description Book(PDB) – Highest level Product Requirement document: Collect inputs from Project Manager office / Product Planning, Keep good track of Scope Requests status and update product description book
- Authoring, review, publish, Meet Quality Standards
- Stakeholder Management for Property and PDB delivery milestones
- Ensure traceability of property requirements
- Ownership and propagation of relevant Requirements in the Development Organization

Job profile
- Master Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 Year Experience with Engine Performance Development and Testing engine
- Good Understanding of some of the key engine performance aspects: Engine Combustion, Turbocharge, Fuel Economy, VECTO, GEM standards, Engine startability, Engine Cooling, Engine Torque/Speed Performance, etc.
- Pro-active attitude and good at stakeholders management
- Structured working approach combined with high analytical capacity
- Experience with Requirement Engineering -DNG (would be an advantage)
- Making good quality presentations and effective presentation to management
- Ability to quickly understand bigger picture, practical approach
- Advanced english skills are mandatory
