It is important that you be able to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). In addition, as a mail sorter, you must meet the following requirements:
- you are available 3 to 5 days a week from 8:00 p.m. to 3:45 a.m.
- you speak Dutch or English
- you are available to work at least the shift from Friday to Saturday
- you have a car, scooter, or bicycle to get to work
- you are available for at least 3 months
You’ll be processing registered mail! During the evening shift, you’ll start by unpacking incoming mailbags and containers. You’ll sort special mail such as registered letters and condolence cards, assist with the large sorting machines, and neatly arrange the processed mail in the transport bins. During the night shift, you’ll first set up the sorting area and sort out packages and P.O. box mail. You’ll also scan and bundle high-value mail in the secure cage and drive the full containers to the transport deck so the trucks can leave on time. You’ll be physically active throughout your entire shift, work as part of a friendly team, and may even have the opportunity to advance to computer-based tasks within the department!
PostNL’s sorting center in Zwolle (located on Anthony Fokkerstraat) is the central hub for mail processing in the region.
