The new year is just around the corner and your outlook for 2020 is getting better because the WAB will become effective in January. This Balanced Labor Market Act ensures that people with flexible work more have more certainty. This act will make the difference with fixed employment smaller.

We will provide you with information about what this means for you and we will explain everything to you. Just read along.

you have to be called up on time

The WAB ensures that on-call workers know where they stand sooner and better. This is the result of 2 new rules:
 

  1. If you have been called up and your client still cancels the work within 4 days, you will be paid the hours you would have worked as an on-call worker. That is a comforting thought.
  2. If you are called up to work subject to a period of less than 4 days, you will have the right to refuse the shift. You are therefore not obliged to work if you are asked whether you are available two days in advance (although you are of course allowed to do so!). No is fine if this is the case.

you are entitled to a fixed number of hours after at most 12 months of employment

Have you been working as an on-call worker for a long period of time? If this is the case, you are entitled to a fixed number of hours per week or per four weeks after at most 12 months of employment. You will receive a suitable offer from us.

You would prefer not to be bound by a fixed number of hours? No problem, you can always refuse our offer.

you are entitled to a transition payment as from day 1

Naturally, we will try to find other work for you immediately if you lose work involuntarily. You will be entitled to a transition payment if we cannot find other work. The new Act means that this already applies from your first day of work.

this is what you may expect from us

There will be some changes in the new year. Will your contract with us be extended in the near future? If so, your new contract may look different from your current contract. Naturally, we will inform you if this is the case. We will then explain the differences to you.
