Currently, we are looking for an Assistant Scientist within Molecular Bioassay group of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention (formerly Crucell) who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Janssen Vaccines & Prevention is a biotech company which is part of the Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson and focuses on the development, production and marketing of vaccines, recombinant proteins and antibodies to prevent and combat infectious and other diseases.
Within Janssen talented, entrepreneurial people are working in a dynamic culture in which innovation and a ‘can do’ state of mind are the central points. In order to strengthen our team we are continuously looking for enthusiastic, talented people who have the ambition to develop themselves and can be of value to Janssen.
The Molecular Bioassay group is part of the Analytical Development (AD) group and is responsible for developing methods that are employed to analyze and characterize virus based vaccines. Product analysis includes tests for quantity, potency, purity, and identity, but also detailed structural characterization of vaccines. The Analytical Development group, which is part of the pharmaceutical and analytical department, has a pivotal role between the regulatory authorities quality unit and process development. In addition, the AD department supports other departments (formulation, USP and DSP development) by routine sample analysis.
Within AD, the technician will be working in the molecular and bioassay (MBA) group, which is responsible for the development of new bioassays in order to characterize virus based vaccines.
We are looking for a motivated technician who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team. The main tasks will be the development of bioassays for characterization of vaccines that are produced with the PER.C6® technology and sample analysis to support process and product knowledge. Activities will mainly focus on assays that measure vaccine potency and vaccine purity. These include different formats, but will have a focus on ELISA, (q)PCR and cell culture-based assay systems. The position will also involve handling of biologically active substances. Further responsibilities will be optimization of methods, trouble shooting, planning of lab-related activities as well as writing of reports and oral presentations.
A suitable candidate will have a HLO or a masters’ degree in a relevant field of cell-based assays, molecular biology, cell biology, or life sciences and is familiar with techniques as ELISA, (q)PCR, cell-culture or virus culture.
Experience in working in industry, assay development, GMP or at a ML-2+ laboratory or higher are considered advantageous. Understanding and speaking Dutch is required.
The successful candidate has a flexible work attitude and a can-do mentality. You enjoy working in a team that is eager to extend their knowledge of new technologies. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team are equally important as independent planning and execution of tasks. Finally, you are critical and value accuracy in the execution of your work.
Salary indication: between €2.200,- - €2.800,- gross per month (based on fulltime), depending on experience and education.
Uiteraard staat deze vacature open voor zowel mannen als vrouwen.
